Show Your Short Shorts

Posted on: October 5, 2010

I never thought I’d write a short story, much less a short-short story.  My creative wrting teacher proved me wrong by assigning a 1-3 page short story.  That’s not a whole lot of words (somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,500).  But I did it and in about 800 words. It was fun and challenging.

Now I’m entering ”Such a Sweet Girl” in the Writer’s Digest Short Short Story Competition. The call for entries asks for fiction that’s bold, brilliant…but brief. Send in your best in 1,500 words or fewer. But don’t be too long about it—the deadline is Thursday, December 1, 2010.

That’s awesome, Claire! Entering contests is so motivating! Best of luck… 😀

Good luck with this and thanks for the heads up. Recognition from writing contests is also good to mention on query letters to agents. 🙂
